SEED has since then worked with underprivileged individuals, families and communities with the aim of improving their income and access to basic services. SEED endeavors to achieve these through the provision of financial services delivered in conjunction with a wide-range of comprehensive socio-economic services.

PRODUCT AND SERVICES

Microcredit Program

SEED’s microloans were developed anchored on the needs and specificities of underprivileged individuals and groups from urban poor communities and the rural areas. All loans extended are only for productive and business purposes to include but not limited to: volume increase of materials/stocks, business diversification; repairs/maintenance of business space and equipments; acquisition of equipments and other assets for business; bridge financing; and product development.



Binhing Pagbabago (SEED of Change)
Intended for micro-entrepreneurs who have been operating their business for at least one year. Loanable amount is from PhP 4,000 – 30,000, non-collateral, and bears a 2.5% flat interest rate per month. These are individual loans amortized weekly in solidarity groups called as Satellites.



Binhing Pag-Unlad (SEED of Progress)
Intended for micro-entrepreneurs who are operating a social enterprise addressing the triple bottom lines in terms of economic viability, promotion of social equity and ecological soundness. Specifically, these businesses should contribute to employment generation to other marginalized individuals, utilize local resources mostly thereby contributing to the improvement of local economies, and promote sound waste management practices. These are guaranteed loans amounting from PhP 20,000 – 150,000 and bearing a 3% interest rate per month. These are also individual loans amortized weekly through direct bank payments.

Capital Build Up Program

SEED’s Capital Build Up Program enables underprivileged individuals and families to save for increased access to basic services. Through the CBU Program, SEED also actively promotes the culture of savings and responsible cash management in view of long term family development goals. SEED’s CBU Program are all within the means and within the reach of individuals and families in the community.



Loan Capital Build Up

Loan Capital Build Up are loans tied-up with certain microcredit programs of SEED to help micro-entrepreneurs set up funds to boost their economic capacities and independence from loan. SEED also allow withdrawals at a certain extent for unforeseen financial requirements and to cover for expenses brought about by vulnerabilities as the need arises. The LCBU is pegged at a minimum of PHP 40 per week to a maximum of 25% of the loan amount but may be voluntarily increased according to the willingness and capacity of each individual. Interest on savings is at 6% per annum based on the Annual Daily Balance and paid by SEED on a semi-annual basis. Transactions are done at the designated Satellites within SEED’s areas of operations.

Business Development Program

Business Trainings
Complimentary to the provision of microfinance, SEED offers free trainings to its partners to address their business development requirements. These trainings encompasses topics ranging from basic entrepreneurial courses (i.e. Marketing, Specialization) up to topics that will enhance their financial literary (i.e. Overindebtedness). Anchored on the uniqueness of the participants, SEED designed the modules for short discussions (lasting for at least one hour maximum) and subscribing to the participatory instructional methodology.



Skills Trainings
SEED provides its partners with trainings that introduces, augments and enhances their skills on various businesses and services. SEED outsources some of the trainings to institutions such as DTI and the LGU. However, SEED also maximizes local resources by engaging its partners to facilitate trainings on businesses/services of their expertise.



Business Counseling
SEED provides individual and customized support to some of the SEED micro-entrepreneurs in order to help them solve the business problems they are facing, expand or diversify their activity and increase their profit.



Partners’ Link workshop
Partner’s link workshops are meant to match up SEED suppliers and manufacturers and provide better market and supply material deal for SEED beneficiaries. The session is done every quarter in each branch but follow-ups are conducted throughout the year to ensure that an effective and efficient connection between suppliers and manufacturers.



Social Development Program

Family Development Service
Acknowledging the fact that the poor faces various vulnerabilities including psycho-social issues of which there is limited resources or interventions being offered locally, SEED pioneers the Family Development Service which is free of charge. The aim of this service is to provide a systematic and professional intervention to select individuals/families facing psycho-social issues. A series of visit is conducted to help the individuals/families ascertain the roots of the issues and generate resolutions from their end. SEED employs licensed Social Workers for this purpose.



Social Trainings
SEED partners are provided with trainings to enhance their awareness on social issues (Health, Nutrition, Reproductive Health, Environment) affecting their well-being. These short trainings are free and subscribe to the participatory instructional methodology.



Access to basic service through referrals
SEED recognizes that there are various services offered but which remains untapped, inadequate or under maximized by many poor urban communities of Metro Manila and Cavite. As such, SEED builds a network among organizations and institutions and through this network, refers partners to the appropriate institution for their needs which are not currently being addressed by SEED’s programs and services

Microinsurance Program

In partnership with Philippine Prudential Insurance Company, SEED offers individuals availing of certain micro-credit programs with micro-insurance for death, accidental death and dismemberment. For a minimum premium of PhP 200 per annum, partners and their immediate family member are provided with guarantees.
